Shipping policy

Why no free shipping?

Dawg Food ships heavy, insulated packages designed to keep perishable food safe during transit. Shipping carriers charge based on both weight and dimensional size, which increases costs on cold-packed boxes.

Additionally, to maintain product integrity, we use:

  • Premium insulated packaging
  • Refrigerant materials (ice packs, liners, etc.)
  • Expedited transit windows

These practices ensure your order arrives cold, safe, and fresh — but also result in higher carrier rates. Dawg Food does not mark up or profit from shipping fees; they are based directly on UPS rates for your location and package weight. 

Because these fees vary so much based on location, we are unable to build the cost into our pricing.  We understand that the high cost of shipping may come as a surprise to our customers.  We’re still operating out of our first (original) location, and without shipping, Dawg Food simply wouldn’t be available in your market yet.  Think of it as the bridge that lets us reach you while we grow!

  • 3-Day Select | 2nd day Air | Ground: 4:00 PM

Wednesday

  • Next Day Air: 11:00 AM
  • 2nd day Air | Ground (Local): 4:00 PM

Thursday

  • Next Day Air ONLY**: 11:00 AM

Cutoffs reflect guaranteed ship-out times. Orders placed after cutoff may still ship same day if processed before carrier pickup.

Dawg Food does not manage or control shipping operations. 
After your order is handed off to the shipping carrier, all delivery logistics, route decisions, access attempts, and timing are entirely handled by the carrier.  

Shipping carriers operate on a business-day schedule, and we ship orders in the beginning of the week to ensure your package moves continuously through the network.  This prevents orders from getting stuck in transit over the weekend, where delays could compromise perishable products.  Once your order leaves our facility on the day of shipping (including same-day shipments), it becomes ineligible for cancellation or modification.


Customer Responsibility

Because Dawg Food ships perishable food, customers must ensure:

  • The delivery address is complete and accurate at checkout
  • The delivery location is accessible to the driver
  • Someone is available to retrieve and properly store the package on the first delivery attempt

We are not liable for delivery issues caused by incorrect addresses, inaccessible locations, unavailable recipients, or any customer-caused handling errors, including leaving the package outside after delivery.
